I spent over 15 years running hotels across Ireland — General Manager, C-suite, hundreds of staff, constant change, and every people problem you can imagine. Jim Singh brings a career’s worth of people leadership to SmartStart People Management, built across military command, charity governance, HR practice and adult education.
A retired Brigadier General of the Indian Armed Forces, Jim spent decades leading large, diverse teams under real pressure, where clear decision-making and genuine care for people were never optional extras. Since 2007 he has served as CEO of two respected Irish charities — Cherry Orchard Equine & Training Centre and, more recently, TravAct — leading both through the realities of governance, workforce planning and employee relations in the Irish charity sector.
Jim holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resources and a Master’s Degree in Business and Computing, and is fully versed in Irish and EU employment law. He works with SmartStart clients on employee relations, HR governance and compliance, workforce planning, and management training.
